Launching A Lean Start Up

Times are tough and it's more important than ever to be lean and mean. This holds true for any industry, however, likely even more important for any industry that's complicated - perhaps the Geo tech industry! I'm thrifty, perhaps even borderline cheap, but in a smart way and I have to admit, I hide it very well... it's a talent I guess ;0) Being thrifty, I'm attracted to any business article that boasts ways to save cash, be more efficient, and turn peanuts into gold... I wish I could just implement some of these methods a little better (I'm still trying though so don't give up on me yet).  So where am I going with this? An article that recently hit INC shares a great story, albeit from an industry far removed from the Geo arena, however, the tips and tricks really can and should be applied to any small business. So if this is something you're grappling with I suggest you check out INC and give the article "How a $1,500 Start-up Changed Health Care" your attention. There's some awesome tips that can be applied by anyone including:
  • to setup a website on the cheap they used Apple's iWeb
  • Payment processing was handled via PayPal
  • FormStack was used for form processing
  • Technologies like Skype, email, and video messaging were used to maintain dialog with customers
